With deep sadness we announce the unexpected passing of Melissa Sue Bump on Friday August 23, 2024. She was 39 and a resident of Port Crane. Melissa leaves behind a circle of family and friends who love her deeply and mourn her passing, including her loving husband Byron M. Bump; their devoted son Ivan Bump; her beloved mother Penny Rudolph; cherished siblings David (Brandi) Myers and Brandy Barnett. Other special survivors include her uncle Asher Myers, Jr.; her aunt Lisa Dougher; mother-in-law Gale Bump Fortner; nieces Isabelle, Alexa and Gabrielle Pottios; best friend Lisa Page and other aunts, uncles, cousins, in-laws and friends too numerous to list. She was preceded in death by her father David Myers; her grandparents Asher and Rosemany Myers and step-father Billy Rudolph.
Melissa graduated from Harpursville High School and Broome-Tioga BOCES. She worked as an Avon sales representative, but devoted herself to her true calling - that of being a wife and mother. She loved her family more than anything else and enjoyed cooking, baking and sewing for them. She also enjoyed singing and dancing. Melissa was very kind and possessed a loving heart always giving generously of herself to all of her family and friends. She was a longtime member of Trinity Memorial Episcopal Church in Binghamton.
A memorial service will be held at 12:00 Noon Wednesday September 4, 2024 at Trinity Memorial Episcopal Church, 44 Main St. Binghamton. The family will greet friends in the Hoyt room at the church from 11:00 am - 11:45 am
Byron and Ivan, along with all of Melissa's family are deeply appreciative to all those who have expressed their love for Melissa through their acts of generosity and kindness during their time of loss.
