Michael James Canestaro Jr., 84, of Endicott, NY, passed away on March 28, 2026. Born in Cortland, NY, Michael lived a distinguished and purposeful life marked by professional dedication, intellectual curiosity, and a deep commitment to his family. He was a graduate of Broome Tech and Elmira College. Michael worked at Corning Glass Works for two years prior to his long career at IBM Endicott, where he devoted 29 years as a chemical engineer and earned 14 patents. Michael was formerly married to Bettye (Stewart) Canestaro. He is survived by his three sons: Michael Canestaro III (Kristen); John Canestaro (Karyn); and Christopher Canestaro (Leah). He was the proud grandfather (Papa) of five grandchildren: Andrea, Lena, Annabelle, William, and Amanda. Michael possessed a creative spirit and a great sense of humor. He enjoyed producing content on YouTube, including his widely viewed video “Stuck Up with Contact Cement.”
