It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our dear funeral home mascot and comfort companion Minnie at 8:15 pm Tuesday January 28, 2020.
While we had hoped she would die naturally in the peace and comfort of her own home, the discomfort she began to express on Monday necessitated compassionate medical intervention to help her along her new journey.
Minnie was born 16 years ago and initially adopted by a single woman who later turned her over to Lakeland Animal Haven in Kenvil , NJ for re-adoption by our funeral home owner, Kurt Eschbach.
Those who do not believe in love at first sight never adopted a dog from an animal shelter. Minnie instantly won the heart of Kurt and then the hearts of everyone else she met. She truly was full of love and eagerly expressed that love to everyone she met.
She was a treasured part of our funeral home team. Since she lived at the funeral home, she was always accessible as a resource to help comfort a sad grandchild or any other bereaved relative. She also greeted countless elementary school students as they passed by on their way to and from school everyday.
Friends are invited to call at the Hopler & Eschbach Funeral Home, 483 Chenango St. Binghamton on Saturday morning from 10:00 - 11:00 am. A brief farewell ceremony will be held at 11:00 am. Minnie will be laid to rest in the yard she so happily frolicked in since 2009.
You are invited to bring a gift of a dog toy or dog food which will be donated to a local animal shelter in memory of Minnie or a contribution to the animal shelter that cared for her prior to her adoption: Lakeland Animal Haven, PO Box 258, Dover, NJ 07802
