Reginald "Reggie" Houlihan Obituary

Binghamton: Reggie (Reginald) Houlihan, took his good humor and big heart to the next life on October 10, 2024 after a courageous battle with cancer; he will miss his friends and family and will be missed by them – to say he was greatly loved is an understatement. He was predeceased by his parents, Vincent and Evelyn, siblings Ronald and Debra, and canine companion Murphy. Reggie is survived by his loving wife, Debbie, son Ben, grandson Kaiden, niece Andrea, nephew Tim and grand dog, Mongo.

Born and raised in Windsor, NY, he was a graduate of the class of 1970 and a proud member and past president of “The Syndicate”; during this time, he made many friends to whom he remained close throughout his life. After graduating, Reggie hitchhiked across country with his friend Sully, and later served in the US Army for two years; he then settled in Boulder, CO, where he worked for ten years at Soldier of Fortune Magazine. Reggie returned back home in 1983 and met his wife, Debbie (and her son, Ben); they were married in 1987 and became a family. After buying a home, Reggie started his own pest control business, Big R & J Exterminating, which he ran successfully for 25 years before retiring. His work ethic, expertise and kindness were a testament to his character. Reggie had an adventurous spirit and a wonderful sense of humor; he loved life, his family, the New York Yankees and the Chicago Bears. He also loved riding his Harley Davidson with his wife and enjoyed many bike trips with friends. For many years, Reggie was an avid runner/walker with Murphy at Chenango Valley State Park. In his later years, Reg and Deb would travel twice yearly to Siesta Key, where they enjoyed the sun and made many precious memories with old and new friends. Reggie was a character; he loved to tell stories and to make people laugh.
Reggie and his family are forever grateful to the friends and loved ones who supported him during his illness, and his medical team at Roswell Cancer Institute, Broome Oncology and Radiation, and Guthrie Hospice.

A celebration of life will be held at a future time. In memory of Reggie and in lieu of flowers, spread kindness and good in the world or give to someone in need.
