Richard L. Masaryk, Jr. Obituary

Richard L. Masaryk, Jr., 60, passed away May 27, 2022 at his home. He is survived by his devoted wife of 24 years, Patty (Sbarra) Masaryk; his son Richard Masaryk, III; stepdaughters Jennifer (Chris) Depue and  Meagan Crouch; 3 grandchildren Jacob, Tristan and Ashlyn Depue; his mother Shirley Masaryk; sisters Stephanie (Geoffrey) Morris and Tina (Matt) Hinkey; brother Thomas Masaryk; a special cousin who helped care for him, Michele Talerico, numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his father Richard (Sr.) in 2002. Rick was raised in Westover and graduated from Johnson City High School in 1980. He was employed at General Electric and successor companies until retiring from BAE Systems. Rick was a talented carpenter and  was good at figuring out how to complete different projects he took on. His interests were diverse and ranged from stream fishing with his dad, fly-tying and metal detecting to Revolutionary War and Civil War history and cooking. He possessed a great sense of humor and physical and mental strength, which helped him endure his health struggles. Most importantly he loved all of his family deeply and cherished the individual relationships he had with each of them.
A private graveside funeral service for family and close friends will be held 12:30 Wednesday at  the Port Crane Cemetery. The family has requested in lieu of flowers contributions be made to Samaritan's Purse (www.samaritanspurse.org).
