Robert Disch Obituary

Robert George Disch

It is with deep sadness, we announce the passing of our beloved father, Robert G. Disch, 96.  Dad passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 9, 2025 at UHS Wilson Medical Center, Johnson City. We are grateful as all six of his children were able to provide 24/7 care and comfort for him while in the hospital. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Esther M. Disch; his parents, Edward and Stasia Disch; in-laws, Claude and Dorothy Woodruff; and brother, Edward Disch; son-in-law, Michael Boyko, and several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, cousins, aunts, uncles and friends.

He is survived by six children: Robert (Annie) Disch of Victor, NY, Jolie (Vito) Catanzaro of Endwell, NY, Janis (Gary) Galli of Chenango Bridge, NY, Judith Boyko of Binghamton NY, Jacqueline Disch of Albany, NY and Thomas (Margaret) Disch of Branchburg, NJ. Grandchildren: Kourtney (Timothy) Fuller of Johnson City, NY, Kristin (Chase) Fuller of Binghamton, NY, Darien Fuller of Binghamton, NY, Zachary Boyko of Binghamton, NY, Jasmine (John) Watson of Pittsford, NY, Jade (Lysette) Disch of Dallas, TX, Maren (Ryan) Boyko of Vestal, NY, Ryan Galli (Brooke) of Johnson City, NY, Thomas Disch of Binghamton, NY and Mariah Galli of Johnson City, NY; great-grandchildren: Levi, Liam and Mila Galli, Willa, Wren, Wynn Watson, and Zinedine Boyko. Lastly, dad’s rescue furry felines, Leo and Calvin who miss dad terribly.

Robert was born in Binghamton, NY and lived in the city his entire life. He graduated from Binghamton North High School. Dad was a Mechanical Designer and worked mostly as a subcontractor for many years in NYS. Our parents married on November 24, 1951 and settled on the west side of Binghamton.

We have fond memories of trips, vacations and outings to Sylvan Beach, Sodus Point, Amish Country, cabins at Chenango Valley State Park, weekend trips to Rochester and Canada, cherry picking, attending sporting events, family BBQ’s and picnics. Dad was always helpful and was available to support his kids whether they experienced car trouble, a house emergency or assistance with a home renovation. He was kind, thoughtful and appreciated the care he received especially after our mother’s passing. He enjoyed watching the Yankees, Syracuse basketball and the Olympics. Dad loved sweets, snacks, and his coffee.  He was happy with just a peanut butter sandwich. He especially loved receiving his Hickory Farms meat and cheese boxes every Christmas. Our father enjoyed visiting with his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren. He enjoyed family holidays together.

Thanks to Dr. Frank Eder, Dr. Heather Rattenbury-Shaw and their office for the wonderful care given to our father. Thank you to UHS Wilson Medical Center for the comforting care provided to our dad.

Bob, Judy, Jackie, and Tom would like to recognize and give special thanks to our sisters, Jolie and Janis. Jo and Janis were the main caregivers for dad the last few years.  Without your dedication, dad would not have been able to stay at home. Your siblings are most grateful, and we thank you.
