Rudolph Roman, passed away May 22, 2022 at his home. He is survived by his cherished family; his daughter Cheri (Tom) Hohn; grandchildren Steven (Jill) Tennant and Lorraine Tennant; four great-grandchildren Alex, Dinah, Lindsey and Brendan Tennant; his sister Vilma (Vern) Teeple; and many nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by his wife Gladys, his second wife Rosemarie and his brother John (Dorothy) Roman and grandson Philip Tennant. During WWII Rudy served in the U.S. Navy in the Seabees in the Pacific Theater. After the war he returned home to Binghamton. He earned an associates degree at Broome Tech. He was a retiree from NYSEG, having worked as a welder and supervisor at the Goudey Station. He was proud of his Slavic heritage and was a lifelong member of the Czechoslovak Moravan Club and its dance group. He was also member of Sts. Cyril and Methodius Church and its Altar and Rosary Society. His interests spanned a diverse spectrum from carpentry, hunting and fishing to Civil War history, photography and travel. He loved listening to opera music and supported the Tri-Cities Opera for over 70 years. Rudy was a kind man and a generous supporter of numerous charities. He lived a full life and will be deeply missed by all those who love him.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 am Friday at the Hopler & Eschbach Funeral Home, 483 Chenango St. Binghamton (Due to Road construction approach Chenango St from Bevier St). Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 5:00-7:00 pm. The Czechoslovak Moravan Club will meet at 6:30 pm.
