Sarah J. Hamilton Godfrey, 90, passed away peacefully on March 1, 2026 with her two daughters at her side. She is survived by her loving daughters, Kristen L. Godfrey Tower and Kiley A. (James A.) Harding; her cherished grandchildren, Krystle M. Pilipovic, James E. Pilipovic II, and Mikayla A. Harding (fiancé Ryan P. Cole), Marissa R. Harding, Hunter J. Harding and her beloved great-grandchildren, Cayden J. Pilipovic and Brycen M. Heyman. She is also survived by her two nieces and nephew, many cousins, dear friends, and her special friend, Barbara Rudikoff from NYC.
She was predeceased by her parents, Dr. George C. Hamilton and Mrs. Sarah J. Hamilton, and her sister, Mrs. Mary Lu Lehman.
Sarah was a graduate of North High School, Class of 1954. She continued her education at Syracuse University, earning her Bachelor of Arts degree in Fine Arts. After graduation, she moved to New York City to work for Frank Vos & Co. She later returned to Binghamton to accept a position with NYSEG. She then married, started her family, and began her role as a domestic engineer.
Sarah was an accomplished artist, member of the Tole and Decorative Society, and a longtime member of United Presbyterian Church. She volunteered as a dog walker at the Broome County Humane Society. She also enjoyed playing bridge with friends, reading mystery novels, watching birds, and caring for her beloved dogs. Sarah will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, and friend whose warmth and kindness touched many lives.
The family extends special thanks to the staff at Willow Point Nursing Home (North 2), for the compassionate, loving care they provided.
Cremation services provided by Hopler & Eschbach Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Broome County Humane Society in Sarah’s memory.
