Serenia Riveras

With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Serenia L Riveras, 81, of Binghamton New York, passed on May 17 2026 surrounded by her loved ones. She is now at peace in the presence of the lord. A lifelong, devoted servant of Christ, Serenia’s faith was the foundation of everything she did.

Born in Florida to the late Myrtle and James LLyod McGlaun. Serenia  was one of 9 kids. Predeceased siblings Cheryl, Carolyn, Leon, Daniel, James, Harold , Walter & surviving brother Johnny and nephew She lived and traveled from Florida to New York all her life to be with family. Serenia became an avid seamstress over the years. She spent many years working in the kitchen at the boys & girls club in Owego in her younger days. While living in Florida as she got older, she cleaned hotels in Panama City Beach.  She was a mother of 6 children. Predeceased by 2 of her sons Antonio & Timothy Robin Riveras. Surviving children Renia ( Larry ) Angell, Debra Crawson, John Riveras , Daniel Riveras, and daughter in law Sheryl Riveras. She was a grandmother of 22 grand children, 26 great grand children and 4 great great grandchildren. She was a constant presence in all of our lives , making sure each and every one of us knew how much she loved and cared about us. She looked after everyone she came across in her life, with an open door policy, making an impact on each and everyone of us. She was loved by many friends, family and loved ones who were a huge part of-her life from Florida to New York over the years. Her smile was infectious, her love was endless. Above all, her greatest joy in life was her family. She leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and compassion that will live on through her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren for many more years to come. 

A celebration of life in Serenia’s honor is planned for August 21st. Further details to follow.
