Sharon (Cook) Johnson, 86, of Byron, Georgia, died unexpectedly on July 19, 2025. Sharon spent most of her childhood and teenage years with her parents and sister in West Endicott, New York, graduating from Union-Endicott High School in 1957. She attended and graduated from St. John’s Episcopal Hospital School of Nursing in 1960. Soon after, she married Angelo Arato and they had their daughter Tina in July 1961. Sharon returned to the Binghamton area, where she worked as an OR (operating room) nurse at Wilson Memorial Hospital. She married David Johnson and they had two children, Amanda and David. Sharon took great pride in her family, in her home just outside of Binghamton, and in vacationing at the family cottage on Bradley Brook Lake and with their travel trailer. Sharon is survived by her daughters Tina Krisko and Amanda Nix and husband Scott; her son David Johnson and wife Kim; her sister Dawn Cook and wife Nancy Doolittle; and 16 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandson. Sharon is predeceased by her husband David Johnson; her parents Nina and Gerald Cook; and her grandson Adam Richardson.
The funeral for Sharon will be held Friday August 1 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints 305 Murray Hill Rd., Vestal. The family will receive friends at the church from 10:00-10:45 am. A Nurse Honor Guard Service will be held at 10:50 am. Burial will follow in Vestal Hills Memorial Park.
