Sheila M. Wright, 53, passed away suddenly at her home March 2, 2025. She was born March 20, 1971 in Johnson City and graduated from Johnson City High School in 1989. She went on to study at Binghamton University and even owned a deli for a short period of time. Most notably, Sheila was employed by NYSEG for close to 25 years beginning as a Call Center Representative to most recently training to be a Gas Fitter. In her free time, you could find Sheila at a local bar shooting in the Southern Tier Dart League, cruising around in her blue Camaro “Rizzo”, watching a good true crime show or cooking a big Sunday dinner for her family to gather at her home. Most importantly to her, Sheila was a proud momma to her children and Nana to her four grandchildren. Sheila had a kind, caring, and selfless spirit and will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Sheila is survived by her children Leigh Ann (Daniel) Chapman, Corey (Kaylin) Dwyer and Matthew VanPatten; her mother Grace (James) Sanford; grandchildren Connor & Caiden Chapman, Luca & Leighton Dwyer; siblings Sean Wright and James D. Sanford; nieces, nephews and cousins; loving best friends Scott Novitske and Terri Anderson and her three cats Mabel, Millie and Maggie.
The family will receive friends, family, and coworkers at the Hopler & Eschbach Funeral Home, 483 Chenango St. Binghamton on Friday March 7th from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held 3:00 pm Saturday March 8th at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to her family to help provide for Matthew's future needs and education. Please sign her guestbook at www.HEFUNERALHOME.com
