Viatcheslav Goloubev, 87, of Newark Valley passed away January 27, 2026 in New City, NY.
Funeral services will be held Friday February 13 at 12 Noon at the Russian-Ukrainian Baptist Church 751 Farm-to-Market Rd, Endwell, NY.
Viatcheslav Alexandrovich Goloubev was born in Moscow on April 25, 1938 to Barbara and Alexandr Goloubev. He described his upbringing as being in a simple small town family before Moscow became a big city. He had two marriages and is survived by children Inna, her husband Andrey, and Nadya, also grandchildren Alexandra, her husband Samuel, Valeri and Olga.
He graduated with the highest specialized degree in mechanical engineering in the Soviet Union, and after coming to the United States he has had several jobs in machine shops before retirement.
After retirement, he enjoyed his rural home in Newark Valley, New York with his late wife Irina. Together, they lived a very simple life. He worked in his barn, took care of the property, and helped raise their granddaughter Alexandra. Despite his bad eyesight, he loved woodworking, and finding creative ways to fix things. His tools were his prized possessions. Slava regularly attended the Russian Ukrainian Baptist Church in Endwell, where he loved to fellowship with people. Slava fully lost his eyesight completely due to glaucoma and macular degeneration. His wife, Irina tragically departed for heaven to meet her Savior Jesus 5 years ago.
He was very blessed to be surrounded by wonderful home attendants and his local family, enjoying his favorite Slavic foods and audiobooks.
Slava, despite many questions and doubts, which all of us have sometimes, believed on his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, & that He died for his sins & paid the ultimate price for Slava's salvation and even tried to minister to others and encourage his family, as well as all those around in their faith.
.....A stroke suddenly interrupted his regular life on September 22. It started with a simple headache, and some unbalance. He was admitted to the hospital on Monday, and on Wednesday, his granddaughter Alexandra came to take him home, since they were discharging him. About 5 mins after that, the doctors decided to keep him “just in case for observation”. After that, slowly, his body lost functionality. He stopped being able to walk, stand, eat, drink, talk, and breathe. After much struggle, the Lord was gracious to call him home peacefully on a cold Tuesday morning of January 27, breaking many hearts, but giving us a new beginning of hope & faith of reuniting together with Slava in his new glorified body that can see, speak, walk and maybe even fly, all in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ and father God in heaven!
