Ward R. Palmer, 81, died January 11, 2021. He is survived by his children; Brenda Lee Page, Bonita (Ragnar) Wagner, Darlene (Don) Lashway and W. Ron (Connie) Palmer, Jr., 9 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren (with two more on the way), sister Linda Breffle and sister—in-law Mary Palmer.
Ward was a Vietnam veteran serving in the Army. He served in the 101st US Airborne Division as a paratrooper. He was also a Drill Sergeant, retiring with the rank of Staff Sergeant (E-6) after 20 years of service. He was a member of the American Legion Post 1645 and a retired tractor trailer driver for U.S. Express. He enjoyed watching westerns, smoking his pipe and a good rum and coke.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 4-6 pm at the Hopler & Eschbach Funeral Home, 483 Chenango St. Binghamton. Due to Covid-19 related gathering restrictions a private funeral will be held 11:00 am Friday.
He will be buried with full military honors in Quaker Lake Cemetery in the spring. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in his memory to Lourdes Hospice.
