Dr.Irma Fattal was lost to this community and her friends and family on Saturday evening, 8/15/15.  She was born in Budapest Hungary, in 1931.  She survived influenza and the loss of her siblings , as a child,WWII as an adolescent and,after 7 years  of medical training at Semmelweiss University, survived the Russian suppression of the 1956 Hungarian revolution.  Escaping to  Canada, she both practiced and taught medicine, before being brought to Binghamton.  Residency at Upstate Medical in Syracuse led to board certification in Psychiatry and Neurology  and her practice of psychiatry and teaching  medical students  in the Upstate Clinical Campus program.  She especially loved medicine as it gave her the opportunity to serve  her fellow man.  Widely known and loved by everyone, she will be sorely missed, especially by her family, daughters Nora (Quintin) Fattal-  Gibbs,  Corrinne (Dr. Michael) Farrell, and her son Dr. Peter (Karen) Fattal, grandchildren Erin and Brandon Gibbs, Haley,Taylor, Jamie, and Remy Farrell, and Alexander,  Zachary, Ryan, and Jessica Fattal.  Near the end of her life, she consented to marry Dr. Gary Johnson, who was her devoted life partner for nearly forty years.  She was a member of  United Presbyterian Church.

A memorial service will be held 11:00 am Saturday October 3, 2015 at the United Presbyterian Church of Binghamton, 42 Chenango St. Binghamton. Her dear friend Rev. Dr. Andrew Stehlik will officiate.The family will receive friends at the church from 10:00 am until the time of service.

Having so many flowers in her garden, she wished for none at the memorial celebration.  Instead, she asked that  anyone who wants to do so, to write her a letter, sent to her at the church at 42 Chenango St., Binghamton.
