Ray William Merritt, Jr, 67, of Conklin passed away at his home February 18, 2017, surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his three children, Stacey Lynn Nazarenus of Vestal, Jonathan Ray (Keri) Merritt of Conklin and Ray (Brooke) Merritt, III of Conway, SC., 8 grandchildren, Jessica, Dean, Shelbie, Sidney, Zachary, Parker, Haylee and Alyssa, 2 great-grandchildren, Olivia and Xander, 4 sisters, Lillian Lockett, Becky (Lowell) Manning, Colleen (Alan) Krashesky and Jenifer Mallon (Todd Brown), along with several nieces, nephews and cousins. Above all else, Ray loved his family deeply and spending time with them, especially fishing, hunting and other outdoor activities. He enjoyed golf and even hit a hole-in-one. He was an auto body repairman and was particularly a skilled painter. He always enjoyed working with his hands, doing things for his family. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
A memorial service will be held 5:30 pm Thursday February 23, 2017 at the Calvary's Love Church 1315 Reynolds Rd. Johnson City. Those wishing to honor Ray's memory may to so by making a gift to the American Heart Association in his memory.
