Douglas Miller Obituary

Doug passed away on March 24, 2024 after a brief illness. Doug was predeceased by his parents Harold R Miller and Eleanor M. (Arrow) Miller, two brothers, Richard E. "Dick" Miller (Phyllis), Raymond Miller (Sharon), niece Teresa Miller and his beloved dog, Shawnee.

Doug is survived by four nieces, Lisa Longo (Vestal), Elaine Miller (Ouaquaga), Tina Rucky (David - Binghamton),  Amanda Miller (Kirkwood), two nephews, David Miller (Ellen - Ouaquaga), Raymond Miller Jr. (New Jersey), five great nieces, Amber Batista (Wilson), Audrey Hoyt (Alex), Doreen Miller, Ariel Miller, Ashley Rucky, two great nephews, Zachary Miller, Andrew Rucky, many great, great nieces and nephews, many dear friends and his best friend, his dog Lakota.

Doug served  in the United States Navy from 1963-1969. He served as a proud Submariner serving with honor on the USS Cheboygan County LST-533, USS Alexander Hamilton SSBN-617, and USS John C Calhoun SSBN-630. Doug worked as a technical writer throughout his career, retiring from Lockheed Martin. Doug was President of the Knox Cemetery in Ouaquaga, NY and served as the Fire Commissioner for the Town of Colesville and Windsor.

A special thank you to the wonderful Dr's, Nurses and staff at Binghamton General Hospital who took care of Doug during his final days.

There will be a graveside military service for family and close friends at 1pm on April 19, 2024; at the Knox Cemetery in Ouaquaga, NY.
