Alice Hudak Obituary

Alice Emily Hudak, born in Vienna, Austria, daughter of John and Alice (Trayhorn) Rosner died January 17, 2020, at her home at the age of 97. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Michael Hudak. She is survived by her son Michael J. Hudak, her sister-in-law Elizabeth Hudak and niece Kathleen Baxter.

Alice was a longtime resident of Binghamton’s East side. Her family were charter members of the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church where her father served as organist for 20 years. After the closure of the church in the 1990s, she became a member of the Redeemer Lutheran Church on Binghamton’s West side. She was active in the church and its women’s organizations for many years. Throughout her life Alice enjoyed extensive leisure travel with her family across the U.S. and Northeastern Canada. Since the passing of her husband in 1999, she continued with her son to frequently dine out, and attend musical concerts in Elmira and Syracuse, as well as locally. As recently as last October, Alice enjoyed visiting her long-time dear friends Karin and Richard Thomas in Syracuse. Special thanks to Linda Martin (Deacon of Redeemer Church) and Doris Conroy (friends with Alice since the 1950s) for their frequent visits with Alice, both at hospital and at home over the past year. And although unable to personally visit, close friend Eileen Durish cheered Alice on through numerous phone conversations up to her last week. Thanks also to Barbara Rick and Sumer Trickey, Alice’s home health aides of the last year for their meritorious care under difficult circumstances.
A graveside service will be held at Chenango Valley Cemetery, Hillcrest in the spring at a date and time to be announced. In lieu of flowers, please  remember Alice by making a donation to the Redeemer Lutheran Church, 72 Main St., Binghamton 13905.
