Laura (Basti) Gill

Laura (Basti) Gill, 87, passed into the Lord's Hands on July 11, 2018. She was predeceased by her husband, James W. Gill, Sr. in 1974 and her sisters Felicia Svoboda and Dolores Gross. Laura is survived by her devoted children, Barbara (Tom) Leahy of Hillcrest and Jim Gill of Binghamton, 2 granddaughters Amy Leahy and Christel Leahy-Reaves, her siblings, Nicki (Neil) Giorgio, Peter (Katherine) Basti, Nicholas (Sandi) Basti, Rosita (Sonny) DiIorio, Carmie Hranek, Madeline (Phil) Schrader, Tony (Fran) Basti, and Anita (Bennie) Tino, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and countless friends she considered as family. She was a lifelong member of St. Mary of the Assumption Church, the Abruzzese Social Club and Son's of Italy Lodge in Binghamton and the owner of Laura's Luncheonette in Hillcrest for over 50 years. Laura was a devoted wife, mother, sister and friend. She was an amazing, hard working entrepreneur and a strong woman who somehow got through all life threw at her, with an open heart and a big hug. She was indeed a wonderful human being. Jim, Barb and Tom extend their heartfelt appreciation to the staff of Unit 2B at Bridgewater Nursing Home for the loving and dedicated care provided to their mother during her stay there. 
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:00 am Saturday at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, Court St. Binghamton. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4:00 - 7:00 pm Friday at the Hopler & Eschbach Funeral Home, 483 Chenango St. Binghamton.
