William Orrin Whittemore, 74, went to be with the Lord on May 7, 2021. Born on December 16, 1946 in Binghamton, NY, Bill loved hunting, fishing and camping with his family, and was a true American hero. He graduated from the US Naval Hospital Corpsman School in 1965. Bill was sent to Vietnam in 1967 and was immediately put in combat, where he earned 3 Purple Hearts and the Navy Commendation Medal with Combat V as a Navy Hospital Corpsman with the 11th Engineers Battalion 3rd Marine Division.
Bill was predeceased by his father, Earl, and his mother, Vivian; brothers: Robert, Earl, Jack and James Whittemore; and sisters: Yvonne Morgan and Mary Lou Lenox; and grand-daughter, Ashley Whittemore. He is survived by his wife, Rosemarie, sons: Mark, Michael (Theressa), and Jason (Jocelyn); daughter Tammy Whittemore; grandchildren: Nathan, Ryan, Jessica (Paul), Samantha, Brandon (Liency), Tyler, Jack, Justin, Jasmine, Jennifer, Lexi, Aiden and Macey; and great-grandchildren Savannah, Declan and Giovanni.
Bill will be laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Arlington National Cemetery.
