James Lewis Smith, 55, formerly of Whitney Point died unexpectedly November 18, 2015 at his home after a brief illness. He was born June 16, 1960 in Johnson City, NY, son of Lewis and Bernice (Brown) Smith. He was predeceased by his parents and his wife Cathy Smith. He is survived by his son Dillan Smith of Norwich and Philadelphia, his sisters, Sandra (Ronald) Lazo and Bonnie (Fred Murphy) Szymaniak.
 
Jim was mechanically talented and could fix most anything. He retired from the Maintenance Dept. at Broome Community College and later worked in housekeeping at the Doubletree Hilton in Binghamton.
 
Private memorial services for family and close friends will be held Saturday November 28, 2015 at the Hopler & Eschbach Funeral Home, 483 Chenango St. Binghamton
