To Judy's family:

We are very sorry to read about Judy's passing. We both loved Judy. She taught our girls at Woodrow Wilson and kept in touch and followed them into their adult lives! What a special teacher she was (and lover of chocolate!) and I know she will live on in the hearts of many of her students. We also loved all the notes she would write and send to us.
She will be remembered by us as a very very kind lady with a huge heart!

You were my 5th grade teacher in 1989. I enjoyed every moment of it because of you. I never liked to read until you introduced us to your favorite children's novel by Robert Newton Peck - Soup. Thank you for making it enjoyable. You never exhibited a bad day at school. You were always upbeat and energetic and I still remember your love for chocolate. RIP Mrs. Rapenske. You made a difference in my life.

As a fellow educator at Woodrow Wilson, I am deeply saddened by Judy's passing. She was such a special person. She was a softy in many ways, and yet no students messed with Mrs. Rapenske. A good teacher is knowledgeable, and she was that. A good teacher can handle the class clowns. A good teacher knows when to let things slide and a good teacher loves her students. She was the right balance of all of these traits. Judy was also a loving friend and a great co-worker. RIP Judy, you lived a meaningful life that will love on beyond your earthyly years. Love you!

Woodrow Wilson School has suffered a great loss with the passing of Judy Rapenske. She was a great source of strength and support for me in my early years of teaching. "Judy Rapenske Cake Day" always gave us a reason to look forward to Wednesdays! My condolences to the family.

Mrs. Rapenske was an amazing teacher. She was tough but fair, and knew how to make the hard times fun. I will always remember the airplane contests she'd hold at the end of the week for a pack of gum. She will be greatly missed. My thoughts and prayers are with your family.

I first met Judy some 20+ years ago when I went to Woodrow Wilson Elementary School to teach fifth graders. Our principal, Doug Green, asked Judy to be my mentor. The first time I met her was a couple of weeks before school started. We were to have lunch at Lanes. I remember walking in and not knowing for whom I was actually looking. I saw this red head with a big smile who waved at me and the rest as they say, is history. We have laughed together, cried together, agreed to disagree together and unweariedly loved each other each other ever since. I can't believe we aren't going to meet somewhere for lunch any longer. I'm not going to get to call her on those early morning trips to school or wherever. My heart is aching and I can't stop crying. Heaven is only dearer because Judy is There.

I was blessed to have judy in my life for the last 30+ years. She was once my mother in law and always my friend. She was a mother to me when I had none, She supported me and cared for me in ways I can never explain. She looked forward to our christmas dinners and I always had to make extra holupkis just for her because if anyone knew her she was tiny but boy could she eat. I am blessed to have had you in my life and always enjoyed our cups of tea together. My heart is beyond broken right now and I honestly can't imagine life without her in it. She was the best person I knew and was an amazing grandmother to my danielle, She was her rock and Judy treated my other daughter just like her own grandchild. She is a true testament of a great person and I will miss her always. Now that you are joined with your parents and James and bummers too, I am sure you are soaring high above us. Thank you for being part of my life, I love you and honored to have been your "daughter " Mary

We will miss her great smile and her infectious laugh. She got her early training dealing with kids by being my babysitter. In spite of that, she became a wonderful and well loved teacher. You are already missed.

Judy was a wonderful teacher and friend. We had an immediate bond as she liked music and sang in a choir and I was the music teacher. Every week she would bake a cake and leave it in the teacher's room for all of us to enjoy. She was such a special person and I will really miss her.

I knew Judy most of my life. I met her through cub scouts and TJ, and was truly blessed to become the best of friends with her over the past 15 years when our paths crossed again. I will never forget her laughter, words of wisdom, and infinite generosity. She was always in pursuit of something for her sons, transporting a church member someplace, or planning a get together with some alum. We never took the time for that cup of coffee/tea, but met up for hours at local shopping haunts, and left little chocolate care packages at one another's houses. Sure will miss her every time I make candy, every day that I walk down Floral Avenue, every time someone says "What's the Scoop?", every time....My sincerest sympathy to all her friends and loved ones. Judy was truly special.

Dear Rapenske family, Judy will be missed be all. She was my favorite person to go out for breakfast and solve all the problems in the world. She was a great listener and talker and we will miss her terribly. At least now she is no longer suffering. We know that God has welcomed His angel into His home. Judy Rest in Peace.

Dear Rapenske Family, We are so sorry to hear of the passing of Aunt Judy. She was the best Godmother a boy could ask for. I remember so many good times spent with her in my younger days. Her smile, laugh and wit would always make me feel loved. We know she is finally reunited with Uncle Jim, Aunt Stephie, Uncle Ed, and Mom and Dad. Sending love and prayers your way.
