Surrounded by his loving family, Robert Petrus, 58 of Windsor, laid down his tools and passed away Sunday January 15, 2017, in the home he built for his family.  In his early life Bob worked with his father on the family diary farm. Later they worked together as contractors building homes together before going out on his own as a carpenter and home builder. He could build, fix or repair most anything, even if it took him a while to figure things out, which he usually did. He helped build the  railroad diorama at Roberson Museum in Binghamton. Bob loved life and enjoyed so many different things, particularly animals with which he shared a special connection and freshwater fishing. He was an avid video game enthusiast and spent many a day in his "man cave" playing his games. He loved his family deeply, working hard to provide for them and spending most of his time at home with his family. He developed a very special bond with his grandson Trenton. He is survived by his wife, Robin (Eldridge) Petrus; his four daughters, Catherine (Jason) Coleman of Ponchatoula, Louisiana, Nicole Petrus of Binghamton, Jessy Petrus of Columbus Ohio, Patricia Petrus of Windsor; 4 grandchildren, Ayden and Avery Coleman, Trenton Petrus-Clapper and Noah Petrus-Cheney; very close friends, Brent Olshefski and family, Mike Caruso and family and  Andrea and Brian Lake and family, along with his three precious dogs, Bailey, Dexter and Moo.   A memorial service will be held 7:00 pm Wednesday January 18, 2017 at the Hopler & Eschbach Funeral Home, 483 Chenango St. Binghamton. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 5:00 -7:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution to the American Heart Association (www.heart.org) or the American Cancer Society (cancer.org)
