i remember playing basketball with Mr Chapman after school everyday, he always had a kind word about everyone. He will be missed, the world needs more people like him.

Tammy, I am not sure if you remember me. Your father and I became friends through Parents Without Partners. I was a widow with two little girls, Annie and Mary. You came to my house and played with them and even ate supper with us a few times. Your father's favorite was my homemade Italian meatball soup. I had totally forgotten about his taste for that soup until he reminded me a couple of years ago when I was talking to him about returning to NY for retirement. He had plans to visit me in Newfield and have soup! What a character! No wonder so many loved him!
Your father and I kept in touch through email and occasionally met for an afternoon to chat every few years when I was visiting NY. I am now in Utah as a mathematics professor at a state university. Your father was a classmate of my first husband (who passed in 1967) while they were at SUNY Cortland.
On the few visits I had with your father in later years, he bragged about his children and how great they were all doing. He was so proud of you and your music.
Although I only saw him every couple of years, I will miss him. He was always on my list of people to visit on my treks to NY.

I remember one summer day Roger picked me up took me to lunch and then we went on an all afternoon into the evening excursion meeting his friends. We went to one of the local Ithaca wineries and just hung out talking and gazing at the scenery in awe. He asked nothing from me in return just friendship. He wholeheartedly gave me his friendship. I am so sorry that the last time that he came to my home to talk I was unavailable. I will miss Roger Chapman so much. I cannot believe he is gone, but I will carry his memory with me always.

I have good memories of Mr. Chapman as a teacher, and, later, Roger as a friend of local bands. My high school experience was better because he was a part of it and he will be missed.
