Mark and the Pierson family. My sincere condolences with the passing of Sterling. Sterl was one of a kind. A example to be emulated. Sterl always helped me at IBM. His engineering and design ability is unsurpassed. RIP Sterling. Blessings to all, Gene Johnson

My condolences to the Pierson family in their loss. I worked with Sterling in IBM tool design second shift in the late 1950's. We all loved and respected him and referred to him as a "sterling person". I remember him just as he looked in this photo of him.

All of us would like to express our expressions of sympathy on the loss of Sterling. He was a good friend and did so much for so many. Bud enjoyed many years of helping Sterling @ church and scout camp the various jobs they got involved into then playing golf together will be remembered with much fondness. Visiting him @ VA in Oxford was a joy to both Kelsey and Sterling! Dora and Sterling are together once again.

Mark, Dave and Gary, I was saddened to hear of your dad's passing. He was a great dad, husband and talented engineer. He set a fine example of how we should all live our lives through his commitment to family, job and community. I will always have fond memories of him. Through the years.

David, Mark, Gary and families- as a "member" of the neighborhood, with our close family ties during school, IBM, and Scouting, your father was the greatest. The times at the lake, our own Troop 143 Camp at Castle Creek, Camp Tuscarora, his knowledge and help working on cars, and being a great father, husband, and friend to my family has always been a blessing and will always be remembered. My heart goes out to you and your families. Dave

I certainly did enjoy being Sterling's pastor. He was unique- but most of all, he was a very good man who would always help you. God bless,

Mr. Pierson as I knew him, was one of the greatest men to ever live. I will never forget all the times he came over to our house and helped my father who was wheelchair bound any way he could. He would come to the house at 9pm in the freezing cold just to lend a helping hand. During the boyscout era in the 1970's he built a sled for my father so that the kids in Troop 143 could pull my father around the lake and my dad just loved that. Thank you for all you did Mr. Pierson and for being a great human being. Jim

Our favorite memory of Sterling & Dora was at Jennifer's graduation party. It was outdoors on a sunny day at Mark's house. Listening to proud, loving grandparents talk about their children and life in general was inspirational. As a fellow vet, I salute Sterling for his service to us during WWII in the US Navy. We pray for the Pierson's during this time of morning, reflection and healing from our Heavenly Father, Who has welcomed him home to Himself, Dora, and all family and friends who preceded him.

Dave Diane and family we knew both Sterling and Dora working with them many times on dinners or at the Arena making popcorn. We had lots of fun and many fond memories. Sterling was a Navy man like me and we hit it off real well. Dora was just a sweetheart. We will miss both of them very much. Please accept our sympathies on the loss of your father. May he rest in peace.

It seems like only yesterday that Sterling and I were working together designing machinery at IBM. Sterling had a natural talent for mechanical design that he turned into many productive machines at IBM and many completed projects at Camp Tuscorora. He often told me however, that his proudest achievements were his three sons.

Mark, Dave and Gary please accept my sympathy for the loss of your father.

To all of the Pierson family, I extend my most heartfelt condolences with regard to Sterling's passing. We were active in scouting together for more than 30 years, as co-campmasters, camp properties for Tuscarora & Barton. Sterling and I worked on many rebuild projects for Tuscarora, from going through the entire yard at Gary's u-pullit to find a frame to replace the Dodge 4x4 stake body we had at camp that rusted out. We also kept the log splitter going year after year for camp. Thanks to Sterling I will never own a Japanese built vehicle, ever. I will never forget you Sterling, you were the best. RIP my fellow Veteran and Scouting buddy. Big John C.

My sincere sympathy for the passing of your Dad. As a kid growing up he was my scout leader. In later years as an adult with a boy in scouting he is a highly respected man that gave much of his time to help make our lives better. I relayed stories of my camping and scouting experiences to my son (now 33) and tried to help out with our local Oxford troop. Much of the time thinking of the man that gave so much to some of the Boys on the north side. I know he will be missed.
