After a rich and rewarding life, Maurice Eugene Sweitzer passed away on 17 April 2015 at the age of 101.  He was born in Glen Burn, PA, the oldest child of John and Florence Sweitzer. Maurice was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and a brother.  He was also preceded in death by his wife Alice, with whom he had two children. Maurice is survived by his wife, Margaret.  His son, Karl (Melissa) and their daughters Alice and Elizabeth Sweitzer also survive as does his daughter Rhoda (Lawrence) Danforth, their children Rebecca (Hans) Watz, Amanda (Scott) Hanford, David Danforth and 5 great grandchildren, Paige, Chloe, and Miles Watz and Noah and Carter Hanford.

A Freemason for over 75 years, Maurice was Past Master of Unity Daylight Lodge #1146. He also distinguished himself in York Rite Masonry and was elected a Knight of the York Cross of Honor, along with many other distinguished honors earned during his years of membership. He was proud of his German heritage and enjoyed membership in the Germania Maennerchor (German Club of Binghamton) for many years.  Maurice also loved to travel and visited every continent but Antarctica during his life. He worked for Endicott Forging for 43 years. We commend the staff and nurses of Good Shepherd Fairview Home for their care and compassion for Maurice and his family.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday 2 May at 2:30 PM at the Hopler & Eschbach Funeral Home, 483 Chenango St, Binghamton. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2:00 pm until the time of services. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Binghamton German Club, 218 Loughlin Rd.
